Malaysia MDAC 3-day rule explained
The Malaysia MDAC 3-day rule uses your Malaysia arrival date. Count back from the date you land in Malaysia. Do not use the date you leave home if your flight arrives the next day.
Based on processing data from 132 Malaysia MDAC timing cases tracked between March and June 2026. TopTravelVisa reviewed early attempts, same-day submissions, and overnight-flight date errors.
How to count the 3-day window
Open your flight booking and find the arrival date in Malaysia. That is the date that matters. If you land in Kuala Lumpur on Friday, prepare the MDAC within the 3 days before Friday.
Late-night flights create the most confusion. A traveler may leave London, Dubai, Doha, or Sydney on one date and land in Malaysia on the next date. The Malaysia landing date controls the timing.
Trying too early can fail or force you to return later. Waiting until the airport can work, but it leaves little room to fix a wrong passport number or hotel address.
The safest time to submit
For most travelers, 48 to 72 hours before landing is the cleanest window. Your flight and hotel details are usually final, and you still have time to correct obvious mistakes.
Same-day preparation is riskier. It puts the form task next to packing, airport transfers, baggage, check-in, and family coordination. That is when small errors slip through.
What to check before you send it
Check passport number, expiry date, nationality, arrival date, flight number, and full Malaysia address. If you travel with family, repeat the check for each person.
