Malaysia MDAC for Uzbek Citizens
Flying from Tashkent? Since December 2023, Uzbek passports get 30 days visa-free in Malaysia. That is a recent change.
But you still need the MDAC. Your passport number, your flight details, your hotel address. Takes about 5 minutes.
Uzbek names with patronymics can be tricky on the two-field MDAC form. The form has no middle name field. We catch those problems.
Uzbekistan to Malaysia travel snapshot
- 30-day visa-free entry on your Uzbek passport (since Dec 2023)
- No direct flights. Connect via Istanbul, Dubai, or Doha
- Submit your MDAC within 3 days before arrival
What you need to know about MDAC
Flying from Islam Karimov Airport in Tashkent? There are no direct flights to Malaysia. Most Uzbek travelers fly via Istanbul with Turkish Airlines, via Doha with Qatar Airways, or via Dubai with Emirates or flydubai. Total travel time is about 12 to 16 hours.
A big change happened in December 2023: Uzbekistan was added to Malaysia's visa-free list. Before that, Uzbek citizens needed a full visa. Now you get 30 days visa-free for tourism. The MDAC is the digital arrival card that everyone must fill in before flying.
Heading to Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, or Penang? Halal food is easy to find across Malaysia. Shopping in KL and beach time in Langkawi are top choices for Uzbek visitors. The MDAC is the same wherever you go in Malaysia.
MDAC requirements for your trip
Mandatory for everyone
You need the MDAC. Visa-free does not mean form-free. No exemptions for tourists or business travelers from Uzbekistan.
72-hour window
Submit your MDAC within 3 days before arrival. The system rejects submissions that are too early. Plan ahead.
What you need ready
Your passport, flight itinerary, and hotel address in Malaysia. Have them open before you start. Takes under 5 minutes.
Patronymic causes confusion
Uzbek names have a patronymic (ending in -ovich, -ovna, -o'g'li, -qizi) that does not exist in the MDAC form. Enter only your given name and family name from your passport. Skip the patronymic entirely.
Routes from Uzbekistan to Malaysia
There are no direct flights from Uzbekistan. Most travelers connect through the Gulf or Turkey.
via Istanbul (IST)
Turkish Airlines from Tashkent to Istanbul, then to KLIA. Reliable full-service option. About 13 to 16 hours total.
via Doha (DOH)
Qatar Airways from Tashkent to Doha, then to KLIA. About 12 to 14 hours total. Good connections and service.
via Dubai (DXB)
Emirates or flydubai from Tashkent to Dubai, then to KLIA. About 13 to 15 hours total. Popular with Uzbek travelers.
via Abu Dhabi (AUH)
Etihad from Tashkent to Abu Dhabi, then to KLIA. 4 to 5 flights per week. About 13 to 15 hours.
Common MDAC mistakes to watch for
Small errors cause delays at check-in or immigration. Avoid these.
- Entering your patronymic (-ovich/-ovna) in a name field. The MDAC form has no middle name field. Enter given name and family name only.
- Copying the passport order into MDAC. Uzbek passports list surname first in caps, but MDAC expects given name first. Check which field is which.
- Entering the wrong departure city. If you transit through Istanbul, your last port before Malaysia is IST, not TAS. Many Uzbek travelers list Tashkent instead.
- Using the wrong date format. Uzbekistan uses DD.MM.YYYY. The MDAC form expects DD/MM/YYYY or YYYY-MM-DD. A dot instead of a slash can cause problems.
