Turkish Airlines flies direct from Istanbul Airport (IST) to Kuala Lumpur International Airport every day. The flight takes about 10 hours. One stop, one airline, straight to KL. This is the most popular route for Turkish travelers. Other options include connections via Doha (Qatar Airways) or Dubai (Emirates) from Istanbul, Ankara, or Antalya.
Turkish travelers love Malaysia for nature, Islamic heritage, and food. Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, and Borneo (Sabah) are the most popular destinations. Many Turkish visitors also explore Cameron Highlands for the cool climate and tea plantations. Your Turkish passport gets you 90 days visa-free. But the MDAC is a separate arrival form.
Travel peaks during summer break (June through September), around Kurban Bayrami and Ramazan Bayrami. Many Turkish families travel during these periods. The direct KL flight from Istanbul gets busy. Apply a day early for your MDAC during peak times. Also note that Turkish schools close for the summer in mid-June, which is when families travel.

Ankara or Antalya
Travelers from Ankara (ESB) or Antalya (AYT) usually connect through Istanbul first, then fly to KL with Turkish Airlines.
Izmir or Sabiha Gokcen
Izmir (ADB) and Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen (SAW) offer flights to Gulf hubs. Connect through Doha or Dubai for onward travel to Malaysia.
Common MDAC mistakes for Turkish applicants
Small errors cause delays. Here is what Turkish travelers get wrong most often.
- Turkish characters on the MDAC form. The system does not accept I, G, U, S, or O. Replace them with I, G, U, S, O. For example, Yilmaz becomes Yilmaz, Erdogan becomes Erdogan.
- Name order confusion. Turkey uses given name first, family name last. So does the MDAC form. No need to swap anything. Just enter it as your passport shows.
- Submitting too early. The MDAC only works within 72 hours of landing. Submitting a week before means it gets rejected by the system.
- Forgetting the MDAC when you have a visa-free passport. 90 days visa-free is about visas. The MDAC is about arrival registration. You need both.
