Czech Republic to Malaysia MDAC quick facts
- Czech travelers generally need MDAC before entering Malaysia
- Submit in the allowed 3-day window before arrival
- MDAC is separate from visa-free or visa-required status
Malaysia Digital Arrival Card for Czech Citizens
Good news: Czech passports get 90 days visa-free in Malaysia. But do not forget the MDAC. It is a separate requirement and applies to almost all short-term visitors. Visa-free does not mean MDAC-free.
Flying from Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG)? There are no direct flights to Kuala Lumpur. Most Czech travelers connect through Doha with Qatar Airways, through Dubai with Emirates, or through Istanbul with Turkish Airlines. Some routes go via Amsterdam or Frankfurt with codeshare partners. The total journey takes around 14 to 18 hours depending on your connection. Plan your MDAC submission for the 72-hour window before your final arrival in Malaysia, not your departure from Prague.
Traveling during the summer break (July and August) is peak season for Czech travelers heading to Asia. The Christmas holidays and spring break (February-March) also see more departures from Prague and Brno. During these periods, submit your MDAC at least 48 hours ahead so you have time to fix any issues before your flight. If you are transiting through Doha, Dubai, or Istanbul on your way to KL, you still need the MDAC. A transit stop does not exempt you from this requirement.
Kuala Lumpur is the top destination for Czech travelers. Many also visit Penang for its street food and colonial architecture, Langkawi for beaches and duty-free shopping, and Malacca for its history. Adventure travelers head to Taman Negara for jungle trekking or to Borneo for wildlife and diving. The MDAC covers your entire stay in Malaysia no matter how many cities you visit, as long as you enter through a single first point of arrival.
Malaysia MDAC requirements for Czech citizens
Who needs MDAC
Most Czech travelers entering Malaysia need to submit MDAC before arrival. This includes tourists and short-term visitors regardless of visa-free status.
When to apply from Czech Republic
You can submit MDAC within 3 days (72 hours) before your arrival date in Malaysia. Not earlier, not later. Mark it on your calendar.
What you need
Your passport, your flight details, and where you are staying in Malaysia. Have these ready before you start.
MDAC is not a visa
MDAC is an arrival card, not a visa. Czech passports are visa-free for 90 days. You still fill in the MDAC. Both rules apply.
What Czech travelers should prepare before MDAC submission
Get these ready and the form takes about 3 minutes.
Valid passport
Use the exact name, number, and expiry date printed on your passport. Czech names with diacritics (č, ř, ž, ě, ň, á, í, ý) must match character for character. For example, Novák stays Novák, not Novak.
Travel dates
Know your arrival and departure dates before you start. Changing them later means a new submission.
Flight details
Have your flight number and airline ready. No direct flights from the Czech Republic to KL. Most routes connect through Doha, Dubai, or Istanbul. Include your final arrival flight into Malaysia.
Address in Malaysia
Your hotel name and address for your first night. Many Czechs start in KL and move on to Penang or Langkawi. Book something refundable if your plans are not final yet.
Common MDAC mistakes Czech travelers should avoid
Catching these early saves you time at immigration.
- Entering your nationality as 'Czech' when the form dropdown uses 'Czech Republic' or 'Czechia' as the country name. Match the exact option in the dropdown based on your passport.
- Removing diacritics from names. Passports show Dvořák, Černý, or Štěpánek. Do not type Dvorak, Cerny, or Stepanek unless your passport does not include the diacritics.
- Submitting too early. MDAC has a strict 72-hour window. If you apply a full week before your arrival, it may get rejected.
- Forgetting that visa-free does not mean MDAC-free. Both rules apply. No MDAC means trouble at immigration.
