MDAC for Afghan travelers to Malaysia

Malaysia MDAC for Afghan Citizens

Flying from Kabul to Kuala Lumpur? Afghan passports need an e-Visa before you travel. And you still need the MDAC.

Keep your passport number, Kuala Lumpur arrival details, and hotel address ready. Takes about 5 minutes.

We review Afghan passport and e-Visa details before the MDAC goes in. Afghan names in Dari or Pashto script need careful transliteration. The MDAC form uses English fields only. We catch common errors.

What you need to know about MDAC

Flying from Kabul International Airport? You will connect through Dubai, Doha, or Istanbul. flydubai, Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Turkish Airlines all fly from KBL to their hubs. From there, Malaysia Airlines or AirAsia connect to KLIA. Total travel time is about 10 to 18 hours.

Afghan passport holders need an e-Visa before travel to Malaysia. That is a separate process from the MDAC. Apply for the eVisa at least a week before your trip. The MDAC is a digital arrival card you complete online within 72 hours before you arrive.

Visiting Kuala Lumpur for the Petronas Towers and shopping? Langkawi for island resorts? Penang for street food? For Afghan travelers, the MDAC covers entry first. Your Malaysia itinerary can include Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Penang, or Johor after arrival.

MDAC requirements for your trip

Both visa and MDAC needed

Afghan passports need an e-Visa for Malaysia. The MDAC is a separate requirement. Do not skip either one.

72-hour window

Submit your Afghan traveler MDAC inside the 3-day window before landing in Malaysia. Plan around the KLIA arrival time.

What you need ready

Keep your Afghan passport, e-Visa reference, flight itinerary, and Malaysia hotel address open before you start.

Name transliteration catches people out

Afghan e-passports show names in Dari or Pashto script plus Latin transliteration. Use the Latin version exactly as printed on your passport. Enter given name, father's name, and grandfather's name if all are shown.

Common MDAC mistakes to watch for

Afghan travelers often lose time over transliteration, e-Visa details, or airport codes. Check these first.

  • Using Dari or Pashto script characters on the MDAC form. The MDAC accepts only Latin characters. Use the English transliteration from your Afghan e-passport.
  • Forgetting to apply for the e-Visa. Many travelers focus only on the MDAC and forget the visa. You need both.
  • Submitting the MDAC too early. If you send it before the 72-hour window, the MDAC portal can reject the submission. Wait until the 72-hour window.
  • Booking a one-way ticket without proof of onward travel. Malaysian immigration requires a return or onward ticket for visa holders.
